Detalii Produs
From RS Pro a range of high-quality Acetal solid plastic sheets black in colour and available in a range of sizes and thicknesses.
Solid plastic sheets are sheets of strong durable plastic or plastic like materials which are cut to size and sold in a wide range of sizes and thickness. These hard plastic sheets, once purchased, can then be cut or machined into components for the fabrication of products for use in a wide range of industries. Different types of plastic sheet have different properties which lend them for use in specific applications
Acetal or polyacetal is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic and is a member of the family of plastics called polyoxymethylene (POM). POM-C acetal is a POM copolymer which, due to its high crystallinity, is especially tough with good chemical resistance. POM-C acetal also offers high mechanical strength, rigidity and hardness. This plastic also features good slide and wear properties, components made from this solid plastic sheet slide very easily and dont stick or lock up. This is an essential quality when this plastic is used in delicate or fine instruments where smooth operation is essential and in gears and bearings. Acetal is classified as an engineering plastic and, due to its unique properties, is ideal for use in a wide range of industries
POM-C acetal solid plastic sheet, with it's unique attributes, make it a versatile material that can be used in a wide range of industries including mechanical, automotive and electrical engineering, food and medical and in transport and conveyor, aircraft and aerospace and oil and gas technologies. POM-C acetal is ideal for use in precision parts that require high rigidity, low friction and chemical resistance. Components that are manufactured from this plastic include the following:
The choice of tools used to cut this plastic depend on the thickness of the sheet being cut. Thin sheets of plastic can be cut using a sharp utility knife. Thicker sheets can be cut using a range of different types of saw such as a fine toothed hand saw or hacksaw or an electric table saw, band saw, circular saw or jig saw. The teeth on the saw blade should be well sharpened and evenly spaced out with a uniform height and shape to avoid cracking or chipping the plastic. The friction caused by sawing can cause the blade to heat which can melt the plastic therefore using a no-melt blade is recommended. If using a regular blade, it is an idea to pause between cuts to allow the blade to cool.
