The board is powered from a single USB via the PC you're using to read data for ease of use. The DM330018's on-board PICkit (PKOB) USB programmer allows you to effortlessly debug and program without the need of any additional hardware. Not to mention, no other tools are needed to program the device. Also on-board is an ICSP that will allow for more advance debugging.
