Code Wheels
The Avago Technologies code wheels are patterned discs which translate a mechanical position into a representative electrical signal. This range of metal code wheels is available with two and three channel outputs and is suitable for use with Avago Technologies optical encoder modules. Compatible encoder modules include HEDS-9000, HEDS-9100, HEDS-9040, and HEDS-9140 series. When used in conjunction with a motion control optical encoder, the Avago Technologies code wheels translate a representative electrical signal from a mechanical position. The code wheels are used for rotary motion and contain data tracks which act as a gate, enabling and preventing light penetration at intervals. Moving shadows (pulse) are generated from these actions and fall onto the photodiodes located on the detector. The metal code wheels, from Avago Technologies, are cost effective and very versatile, with high temperature rating up to 100°C and cycles per revolution (CPR) on a 28mm diameter.
